In regard to the Hittites, I wish it were more of a "discussion".   There was the statement of Steve Collins stating he gave a Hittite lecture / pep-talk on the Hittites, and how we should discuss the topic.   Then, phhht!   I find no one wants to discuss the aspect.

Oddly enough, if this post prints, it will be a relief.   I've made the mistake of spending a couple hours on several writings of extensive posts that were created in the BAS Forum "reply box" and lost during the web reconstruction transmission to "post".  I guess it takes me 4 times to get the message to fall back on the old habits I should have stayed with.

I will have to apparently write my thoughts on a "Word" or "Office" program, and return to the precautionary "cut and paste" feature I had used at the first.

I suggest others may wish to consider such a practice, if they haven't yet done so or have been doing so.

Peace.

well i feel that many things are turned into discussions because nobody in the world wishes to see the facts, so they wish to be just discussions about it. To me then its a matter of state the facts, answer all questions, and walk away since everyone thinks there is no real answer.

The opposite happens too where people wish to discuss all aspects so they can create what they think will be the new fact. Its not a fact but they wish to fabricate it as one, discuss it until it is a fact; like evolution of humans from animals.

As far as losing posts, do you have the internet Explorer that opens ONE page for some forums or web sites and then opens up alternative tabs at the top of just the inner window. CAUTION: you may be back arrowing in your web window when you dont need to, it is still in that TAB.

As far as someone being scholastic enough to say look what i lectured about, let's talk about it. Perhaps he isnt the know-it-all he seems and we can show him that he is not by what we too know. However, perhaps the audience to his lecture wasnt fulfilling enough in participation and he hopes (and has good faith and belief) that we always prove to do a good job discussing. So may he seeks input, but must first lay down hehehe the hundred pages he already knows, (just as a foundation for it).

 People will be people.
No one lets anyone look nor appear perfect until the 1000
years is reached .... even Jesus they told him he wasnt perfect and
threatened to kill him if he ever says he is.

The best discussions I've seen are among the similarly educated.  Among the dissimilarly educated there can also be good discussions, but only when the declarative sentences are travelling in the generally expected direction and the interrogatives in the other.

and the survival  of life and death depends on these ?

I know a great fantastic link where we could be learning things.
It is caled the BAS Forum and instead of looking to everyone else
to be teaching us here in the Forum by posting THEIR links,
we could be teaching others with our Forum.

Then again some children grow up to be adults
who dont realize its now their turn of responsibility to teach those
who are now younger than them. God knows I know a few
60 year old men who never married because they think they
are still adolescent middle school kids. I'm not into observing
men who play maturity roles in the job and then let it all
down at home or private life to act like spoiled baby boys
who never grew up. And yet that's just what we have in the jobs
of many of our schools, or company supervisors, company advisers,
corporate improvements, etc. No one heeds that this is going on.
Is everyone too chicken here to take the lead in expressing and
teaching, take the risk guys, its okay to come back and post you
were wrong.

No.  Just the survival of meaningful discussion.  Those who go to the trouble of making themselves students, and persevere under an enforced discipline of letters, to emerge a graduated scholar are those who were compelled to heed the admonition of drawing near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools.

A free and open forum has no such filter, with the result that many come to impress the assemblage with their "sacrifice" but are unaccustomed to listening to or respecting the formally learned.

Must be neat reading books 123 years old.  However to break the stalemate in Biblical Chronology you might enjoy reading some new updated books.  A lot of archaeology has been discovered since the discoveries, writings, and publishing of the "The Father of Egyptianoloy" work.  One hundred and twenty-three years old. 8)
