Hello everyone,

My name is Joshua (hence my Hebraic screen name) and I just wanted to introduce myself to the forums here. I have been a subscriber to BAR for about a year now although I had heard of it long before then. I find the articles and feedback in the magazine very enlightening and I expect that the forums here provide yet a further extension of that as well. I hope to learn a lot here and contribute where I can.

I study biblical history, theology, and archaeology as a hobby and have recently started my own website at http://www.scholarofgod.com for such interests and research to augment and share my studies. I especially have an interest in Biblical archaeology and have recently become aware of some of the scholarly names in the field and their various positions and contributions. I also have taken interest in BAR's activities such as stepping in on issues like the Dead Sea Scrolls and the James Ossuary (which I was introduced to it and BAR's editor Hershel Shanks for the first time in 2004 in Mr. Shank's compelling book "The Brother of Jesus"). I hope my participation and experience here will be a beneficial one for myself as well as you.

Shalom,

~Josh

Cool.
Probably something you already know
that Jesus is Greek for Joshua.
Most people don't know that though.
I didn't most of my life.
There is a very current strong drive with many people wanting to call him Joshua instead of Jesus.
