i have a great idea.
you want sources and links
lets create a library of links only, no comments
for example noahs ark
and just pasted links from the internet for it

and jerusalem and just pasted links for it etc
make a whole library of knowledge like wikipedia did,
but wikipedia is flawed by having people be control freaks
destrooying info, so here we just paste the links and
state no comment or opinion of it
it will just be a data bank that anyone can know they can go to
for topics online

GOOD IDEA  i think so

Yeah, a 'Source Bank", a good idea.  Problematic though - who will police it and remove broken links, mischief links, and spam?

How would it be superior to a 'Google' or other search engine?

Not dismissing the idea, every idea has plot complications, just contributing to the thought process.

I'm liking the idea.  I too like the idea.

...chin scratching/thinking out loud: ...maybe "child boards" of our current boards for sources and links so that they're "categorized".

...and maybe a volunteer or volunteers to pull links from threads to add to the lists...

...more ideas welcome...bring em on :)

Rick J the moderator is fully capable of the editing.

As for Topic and links, we do this like a game,
You throw in a one word title in as a new thread

Noah's ark (okay thats two words, i'm dislexic)
and then everyone throws in links under that thread

if youre link is too far off topic, Rick J edits it out or
he transfers it under a new thread ... but you should be able
to start your own new thread link by pondering what
to classify it as.
The only way BAS could sort this better is if it had it own category

just as we have ancient israel or anceint peoples
it could be called the BAS Source Bank
I have a ton of Noahs ark or Ararat links on my computer.
My favorite is the Utube movie of the timber on Ararat at 14,000 feet
You could also paste charts like i have, BUT i am referring to
a no comment textless source thread, so i would post my charts with no comment on them. Comments should be made on the other threads. And Rick J should edit out all comments that are made, no matter what they say because it will be soley a data thread, and data thread of a data bank section.
Google is getting too cluttered with garbage.
I just tried to look up mayan calendar stuff and 98% was astrology.
So I am looking to give this BAS a status above the Wikepedia image, and that way Wikepedia will be exposed as trashing good info and biasedly editing their stuff.
GRIN

I am so 50-50 on wikepedia, they have some topics totally true and informative, and others totally rubbish and people who edit your words out.
MY favorite pet pieve is the false astronomy they keep putting into Egyptian Calendar about the star Sothis. Ask me i'll tell you.

Rick's a great guy, dedicated, and a hard worker no doubt - but once the link list has grown over time it's gonna get too big for him and a couple of volunteers to handle.  For instance, how long would it take you to go back through all your sources you've accumulated and make sure the links are still working, the information hasn't become out-dated, etc.  Now multiply that times a few hundred people's contributions and it's going to become pretty demanding.  Not to be a downer, but forewarned is forearmed...

well i dont see a few hundred contributors here, i see me and archeologist whooing the likes of you, while RickJ the teacher swats our hands. I think when it comes to writing every day thoughts of things i know, i'm the only danger here of being an encyclopedia that archeologist thinks needs editing. And i think with with people still being allowed to label me, i should change my name to chronologist if its having the name that makes anyone credible.

Here's an option.  A page outside of the forum format:
