here is a good article on the biblical evidence for israel sojourning in egypt and why it wouldn't appear in the history books of the egyptians.  also it shows that the professional archaeologists are looking for the wrong evidence.

thi is a good website as well

This board does allow web addresses...it just shortens them if they are wider than the window.

Today I am able to get the site.  Will check it out.

What "wandering" of the Israelites is this speaking of?  I initially presumed you meant when Moses led them...but I see no connection to that at all.  Am I missing something?

the wandering through the desrt for 40 years.  the real focus is on the fact that the israelites were in no position to create their own cultural products thus to look for them would be a waste of time.

if you recall, just before they left, the egyptians gave them a lot of egyptian items so i do not think you can realistically gauge an israelite event wth physical evidence.  you would be finding egyptian materials wherever they went.

It is an excellent point.  Indeed, when I had opportunity to view the Tutankhamen exhibit a couple of years ago, I found it striking how certain of the artifacts sounded very much like the biblical description of artifacts and furniture from the tabernacle.  It served for me as a reminder that the culture of the early Israelites would have been heavily impacted by their Egyptian associations.

An excellent book is "We the Black Jews" by Dr. Yosef BenJochannan (Ethiopian). Dr. BenJochannan shows the origin of most Jewish dogma is Egyptian.

my point is not that their culture was influenced by egypt nor that their beliefs came from that country.

the point is, if one is looking for distinct israeli evidence prior to the settlement of the promised land, they will be severly disappointed.

it is unrealistic to assume that the israelis would have a normal developement of culture when their history shows uprooting, being guests in another land, slavery, then wandering and finally war before being able to set up tgheir own manufacturing system.

those who choose to ignore these facts and present different theories based upon a LACK OF EXPECTED evidence are just fooling themselves.  these peces of history must be factored in or one is drawing a conclusion from an incomplete picture.
