Thomas A Crotser - whatever happened to him?

He claimed to have found the Ark of the Covenant in Mount Nebo, back in the early 1980s. Does anyone know if he is till alive and adventuring?

I remember reading that article in BAR years ago and thinking "Wow, that's really something!" But then, I came to learn that really, all it was, was his attempt to cash in on a sensationalistic topic (the Ark of the Covenant).

The pictures were examined and found to be lacking as evidence. There was nothing which he produced that could be followed up.
